Laredo Edges Explorers 6-5

Laredo, TX----Laredo defeated the Explorers 6-5 here Thursday as the Lemurs swept the three game series from the X's.

The Explorers got off to a good start scoring three runs in the second inning and one more in the third to take a 4-0 lead before Laredo scored their first run in the fourth on a solo home run by Mike Provencher.

Sioux City added a run in the fifth innng on a run scoring double by Peter Barrows to give the Explorers a 5-1 lead.

However, in the bottom of the fifth Laredo scored three runs to cut the lead to 5-4 and the Lemurs tied the game in the sixth inning at 5-5.

The winning run for Laredo came in the seventh inning on a RBI single by Brian Peterson that scored Jimmy Mojica from second base that gave Laredo a 6-5 lead, which would be the final score.

The loss was the fifth straight for the Explorers who will begin a three-game series Friday at El Paso with game time 8:05pm.
