
Four-Run Fourth Key in RedHawks' 5-4 Victory

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks scored five unanswered runs after trailing early to defeat the Kansas City T-Bones, 5-4, Friday at Newman Outdoor Field in front of 4,316 fans.
Nic Jackson led off the fourth for Fargo-Moorhead (58-33) with a solo home run - his 10 th of the season and 64 th as a RedHawk, which ties him with Darryl Motley for second all-time in team history. Jeremiah Piepkorn hit a one-out single, Keith Brachold drove a double off the right-field wall and Tim Alberts hit a three-run home run to cap off a four-run inning that tied the game at 4-4.
C.J. Retherford hit a two-out double in the fifth and eventually served as the game-winning run after a Piepkorn RBI single scored him from second to give the RedHawks a 5-4 lead.
RedHawks starter Brian Ernst struggled in the first - giving up four runs on four hits - but allowed only one hit in the next six innings against the Kansas City (37-54) lineup. Ernst gave up four runs and five hits with five strikeouts in a seven-inning performance. He retired 13 straight batters from the second into the sixth in the victory that improved his record to 6-2 this season.
With the win, Fargo-Moorhead's magic number to clinch the North Division crown is down to one, with nine games left to play.
Piepkorn, Brachold, Retherford and Todd Jennings each had multi-hit games for the 'Hawks. Joe Harris struck out two in 1 1/3 innings of relief and Nate Kilcrease forced a 6-4-3 double play in the ninth to earn his sixth save.
The T-Bones led 4-0 in the first after Trevor Coleman hit a bases-loaded three-run double and Brandon Jones hit an RBI single. Kansas City only mustered a total of five hits in the game. Ethan Cole pitched five innings and dropped to 0-7 after giving up five runs on eight hits. Ryan Fennell and Jose Jimenez combined for three scoreless innings of relief for the T-Bones.
