Fargo-Moorhead 5, Sioux Falls 3
Trailing 2-0 after five innings, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks scored five runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-2 lead and would go on to win by the score of 5-3 over the Sioux Falls Canaries. Fargo-Moorhead C Todd Jennings went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and three RBI. RedHawks 1B Tim Alberts went 2-for-4 with a run scored while RF Buddy Sosnoskie had three hits in four at-bats. Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Jake Laber notched his eighth win of the season as he tossed 5 1/3 innings allowing three earned runs on eight hits. Sioux Falls DH Tim Pahuta hit two home runs tonight and in the process broke the American Association record for most home runs in a season.
Winnipeg 3, St. Paul 0
A solid pitching performance by starting pitcher Jason Jarvis leads the Winnipeg Goldeyes to a 3-0 win over the St. Paul Saints. Jarvis tossed a five-hit complete game shutout allowing only two walks while fanning two St. Paul batters. It was Jarvis' first win with the Goldeyes. Winnipeg SS Josh Mazzola and C Luis Alen were the stars offensively as they combined to go 6-for-8 at the plate with two home runs and were responsible for driving in all three of their teams runs. For St. Paul in the loss, SS Adam Frost went 2-for-4.
Amarillo 4, Grand Prairie 1
Amarillo starting pitcher Joe Newby turned in a solid night on the mound as the Sox downed the Grand Prairie AirHogs, 4-1. Newby tossed eight terrific innings giving up an earned run on seven hits with a walk and six strikeouts. With the victory, Newby improved his record to 6-4 on the season. Offensively for Amarillo, RF Joe Weik and CF Chris Valencia each had three hits with Valencia scoring two runs. Sox 1B Kyle Nichols chipped in with his 12th home run of the season and collected three RBI.
Laredo 6, Sioux City 5
The Laredo Lemurs earned their four straight victory tonight as they defeated the Sioux City Explorers by a 6-5 final. With the win, Laredo has a two game lead in the South Division over both Amarillo and Grand Prairie. Lemurs 2B Mike Provencher had a great night at the plate going 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBI while C Brian Peterson had three hits, a run scored and a RBI. Laredo reliever Seth Lintz picked up the win as he threw 2 2/3 innings and gave up three hits. Sioux City 1B Luke Murton had two hits and scored three runs in the loss.
El Paso 6, Lincoln 5 (Top 8 - In Progress)
The game between El Paso and Lincoln was still in progress with the Diablos leading the Saltdogs by the score of 6-5 in the top of the eighth inning.
