Augusta, GA - A four-goal third period including a pair by Ryan Lang proved to be the difference as the Augusta Lynx downed the Columbia Inferno 4-3 Wednesday night at the James Brown Arena.

Lang notched the game-winner to cap a final frame that featured a total of six goals in a span of 6:17. Aaron Slattengren kicked off the third period fireworks at 9:04 on the power play from J.B. Bittner and Weston Tardy, followed by Lang's first of the night at 10:37. Garett Bembridge made it 3-1 from Slattengren and Bittner at 11:47, but the Inferno would roar back.

Owen Fussey and Brad Ralph notched goals 41 seconds apart to tie the game shortly thereafter, quieting the partisan Augusta crowd and setting the stage for Lang's dramatic goal.

Louis Goulet's effort to keep the puck in the Inferno zone earlier in the shift proved key just seconds later, as Mike Erickson and Lang banged away at a loose puck in front of the Columbia net. Lang finally knocked the biscuit past Todd Ford at 15:21 for a 4-3 final margin.

A bounce in front of the Lynx net led to the game's first goal, as Fussey deflected a puck that hit an Augusta defender in front of Nathan Marsters and caromed in behind the netminder for a 1-0 Inferno lead. Jeff Miles fired the pass in front that led to the marker, putting the Lynx down by a goal heading into the final period.

Marsters stopped 33 shots to earn his second straight victory, while Ford turned aside 25 shots in the loss. The Lynx finished 1-for-5 on the power play while Columbia went 0-for-4.
