Brampton Steelheads News Release
Mississauga, ON - Landmark Sport Group and the Mississauga Steelheads Hockey Club have partnered and are excited to launch the inaugural Mississauga Steelheads 2K. Set to take place on Saturday, September 19th, 2015 at 10:00 AM, this event is a great way for kids and their buddies, young sports teams, camps, youth groups and students or entire families to be active over the summer and in early fall in preparation for the event.
"With our event experience organizing the Mississauga Marathon and the Nutrience Oakville Half Marathon, we will continue to deliver this same type of excellence with this new event. We will create a great festival and sport themed atmosphere at the finish line." says Brody Coles, Steelheads 2K Race Director. "We are already receiving great interest from local groups so I can't wait to see the turnout in the fall".
"We are thrilled to be part of the inaugural Steelheads 2K. This fun, family event is a great extension of our 'Hardworking Hockey' brand and we look forward to seeing many sports teams, youth groups, and school kids, as well as their families at the start line on September 19th. We love our City and we are dedicated to ongoing support of all sports at the grassroots level" adds Scott Rogers, Vice President, Mississauga Steelheads Hockey Club.
The race route is a stunning course along the Lake Ontario waterfront trails. Starting on the water in Ben Machree Park, runners and walkers will travel east through J.C. Saddington Park, north on Front Street South and under the Port Credit Lighthouse bridge to a beautiful finish in Port Credit Memorial Park. The finish line will feature Mississauga Steelheads players signing autographs, pictures with Sauga, the Steelheads' mascot and plenty more interactive activities.
All registered participants will receive a limited edition event t-shirt, post-race snacks with refreshments, finishers' certificate, race bib and two tickets to the Mississauga Steelheads Home Opener on Friday, September 25th, 2015 against the Ottawa 67's.
The Compass food bank is the key charity partner of the new event and an online donation system can be found on the official event website. Registration for the Steelheads 2K will also be available online. Early bird prices are in effect until 11:59 PM on Tuesday, July 7th, 2015.
