Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack have said goodbye to six veteran players for the time being.

With National Hockey League rookie tournaments and training camps set to open shortly, four Attack skaters and two goaltenders have departed to gain invaluable NHL experience before the OHL's regular season begins.

Recently drafted skaters Thomas Schemitsch (3rd round, Florida Panthers) and Liam Dunda (6th round, St. Louis Blues) headline the Attack players who have left for camps.

Schemitsch, who was the 88th overall pick at this June's NHL Entry Draft, is coming off of a season that saw him produce 14 goals and 35 assists in 68 regular season games.

Acquired by the Attack at the 2015 trade deadline, Dunda skated in 32 contests for Owen Sound, chipping in four assists to go along with 36 penalty minutes.

Also attending rookie tournament camps are netminder Jack Flinn and defenceman Damir Sharipzyanov, who will both travel to Los Angeles to skate with the Kings.

Sharipzyanov recently signed an entry-level contract with the Kings, following an impressive sophomore year in the OHL that saw him put up 34 points in 66 games. Flinn, who was a stand out at the Kings' summer development camp, went 18-16-1-6 in 2014-15 with a 2.99 goals against average.

The last of the Attack's free agent camp invites is fellow goalie Michael McNiven. McNiven received an invitation to the Montreal Canadiens' summer development camp after a stellar rookie season that saw him win the FW Dinty Moore Award as the OHL's best rookie goaltender.

Jaden Lindo, drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2014, will once again depart for the Pens' rookie camp, but this time is healthy enough to participate in the on-ice portion of camp.
