Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

ASHEVILLE, NC - The Lakewood BlueClaws lost their third game in a row Saturday night as the Asheville Tourists took the final game of the 5 game series by a final score of 8-6. The night started off great for the BlueClaws as they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but Asheville responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th. That is where the game got crazy.

After Lakewood tied it with a run in the top of the 6th inning, Asheville answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the 6th. The BlueClaws again scored a run in the 7th to tie I, and the Tourists yet again took a 1 run lead with a run in the bottom of the 7th. Not to be deterred, the Blueclaws put up another in the top of the 8th inning to tie it, and this time Asheville put up 2 runs in the bottom half of the inning to go up 8-6. SS Carlos Perdomo led off the 9th inning with a double for the BlueClaws, but he never advanced past 2nd base and the Tourists won by a final score of 8-6.

One guy the BlueClaws will be happy to not see again for awhile is Asheville's Bryce Massanari. He was 1-3 Saturday with a 3 run Home Run in the 5th inning. Overall in the 5 game series, he was 10 for 20, with 4 walks, 5 HR's and 10 RBI. BlueClaws pitchers could never figure him out as he improved his average on the year to .426. Kyle Parker followed up his 7 RBI performance on Friday by adding a big RBI single in the 7th inning Saturday.

Tyler Knigge picked up his first loss on the year for the BlueClaws, and Rafael Suarez got the win to move to 1-0 in 2011. Lakewood Manager Chris Truby got ejected for the first time as the BlueClaws skipper as he was thrown out for arguing a safe call at 3rd base in the bottom of the 8th inning.

The BlueClaws are off on Sunday as they will head home and get ready to take on the Charleston RiverDogs on Monday. It is going to be a 5 game series that last Monday to Friday at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, and Monday night Kids Eat Free thanks to ShopRite. To order tickets call 732-901-7000 or go to BlueClaws.com. First pitch Monday is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
