HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Hickory Crawdads cruised to the 9-4 win against the Hagerstown Suns before 2,389 fans at Municipal Stadium on Saturday night. With the win, the 'Dads took four out of five in Hagerstown and seven of nine on the road trip overall.

The Crawdads (12-5) raced out to the large lead with six first inning runs against LHP Bobby Hansen (L, 1-1). With the bases loaded and no one out, 1B Andrew Clark dealt the biggest blow with the 'Dads first grand slam of the season, making it 4-0. One out later, 2B Odubel Herrera got on with a single and came home on an RBI double by 3B Christian Villanueva. Villanueva then came in as C Kellin Deglan ripped an RBI single to right-center field, stretching the lead to 6-0.

After RHP Roman Mendez (W, 3-0) dealt three scoreless frames to start, the Suns (10-7) got on the board against him in the fourth. RF Mills Rogers and LF Wade Moore led off with back-to-back singles, putting runners at the corners with no one out. 3B Sean Nicol then bounced into a double play, plating Rogers from third to make it 6-1.

Hickory quickly responded with a run in the top of the fifth, stretching the lead right back to six. RF Josh Richmond led off the frame with a double, moved to third on a ground out and scored on a sacrifice fly to right field by Deglan. The Crawdads continued the attack with a two-run homer by Herrera in the seventh, his first professional home run, to increase the lead to 9-1.

With pouring rain coming down in the bottom of the ninth, the Suns attempted a late comeback against RHP Joe Van Meter, plating three runs in the frame. However, Van Meter and the 'Dads got on track, closing out the 9-4 win in Hagerstown.
