Tonight: The Gnats, SAL affiliate of the New York Mets, finish their five game series and nine-game home stand against the Lexington Legends, SAL affiliate of the Houston Astros. The Gnats are 5-3 in the first eight games of their nine-game home stand. Savannah has won six of their last nine overall.

Last Night: The Lexington Legends scored four times in the top of the seventh inning against reliever Chase Huchingson to break a 2-2 tie on their way to a 6-3 victory. It was the third night in a row that the winning team has used a four-run inning after Savannah scored four times in the fifth inning Wednesday and four times in the eighth Thursday. 2B Wilfredo Tovar was a perfect 2-2 with a double and two walks from the #9 spot in the Savannah batting order.

Now Pitching: RHP Greg Peavey will make his fourth professional start tonight. Peavey held the Greenville Drive to two runs on seven hits in four innings in his last start, but Savannah scored just once in a 5-1 loss on Monday. The Mets selected Peavey in the 6th round of the 2010 draft out of Oregon State. In 2010 with Oregon State, Peavey was an All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention and a two-time conference Player of the Week. Peavey had been drafted twice before: in the 24th round of the 2007 draft out of Hudson's Bay High School by the New York Yankees and in the 32nd round of the 2009 draft by the Houston Astros. In high school, he was named Washington's Class 3A baseball Player of the Year in 2007. Peavey has had national-level success even before high school, helping pitch the Hazel Dell Metro Little League team to the Little League World Series in 2000, and the Hazel Dell Metro teams that won Babe Ruth Championships in 2001 and 2002. The Gnats are 1-2 when Peavey throws and have supported him with 4.7 runs per game.

Wilfredo is Willing: Wilfredo Tovar has two hits in each of his last two games, his first multi-hit games of the year, going 4-5 combined in the last two nights with doubles and two walks. He's raised his batting average 37 points in the last two nights from .167 to .234, his OBP 94 points from .186 to his current .280 and his slugging 102 points from .238 to .340.

Close Calls: The Gnats are 4-0 in one-run games, all played at home. Savannah is 0-3 in games decided by two runs, with two such contests played on the road.

Streaky Gnats: Since losing five in a row on their season-opening road trip, the Gnats have won six of their last nine games.

Tight South: The Legends win combined with the Gnats loss flipped the two teams in the standings. The Legends took fourth place from the Gnats who slipped back to fifth. The top five teams in the SAL Southern Division are all within a game and half or less of first place.

Vs. Lexington: The Gnats are 2-2 against Lexington in 2011. This is the fifth of 18 meetings between the Gnats and Legends this year with nine games scheduled for both Savannah and Lexington. The Gnats were 6-2 versus Lexington in 2010 and a perfect 4-0 at home at Historic Grayson Stadium.

Cooler Honeck: Sam Honeck is 0-16 in his last four games, on the heels of an eight-game hitting streak. He drove home two runs last night with his 0-3 night. He is still leading the SAL in doubles (8), and is seventh in batting average (.362 - 21 H/58 AB). Honeck played in just six games for the Gnats last year, hitting .091 (2 H/22 AB) with six walks for a .286 OBP in six games before breaking his leg in a collision at home plate in extra-innings on May 5th, 2010.
