
Lake County Bats Stay Hot in 11-5 Win

Lake County Captains News Release
(Dayton, OH) - Lake County (2-0) slugged 12 hits and two homeruns on the night as they defeated the Dayton Dragons (0-2) by a final of 11-5. For the second consecutive night, Lake County had 10+ hits and 11 runs on the scoreboard. Lake County improved to 7-2 against the Dragons on the 2013 season.
In the first, Logan Vick doubled home Erik Gonzalez and the Captains took the early 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the First with one runner on base Junior Arias homered to left field his 9th of the season and Dayton took the 2-1 lead.
In the fourth Lake County re took the lead. The Captains used four hits including a RBI single from Yhoxian Medina and a two run double from Erik Gonzalez. The Captains led 5-1. Junior Arias hit his second homer of the night and tenth on the season in the bottom of the fourth and the score was 5-3 Captains headed to the fifth.
In the fifth, Anthony Santander nailed his third homerun of the season to deep right field and the score was 6-3 Captains. In the seventh, Lake County scored three runs to take a commanding 9-3 lead. With the bases loaded, Leonardo Castillo walked and a run scored. Aaron Siliga followed with a two run single to cap the inning.
Jeff Gelalich doubled and later scored on a Brent Peterson single in the bottom half of the seventh to cut the Captains lead to 9-4. Lake County scored twice more in the eighth inning. Logan Vick hit a sacrifice fly to plate one run and Joe Sever dialed long distance with his second homerun of the season. The score was 11-4 Lake County headed to the ninth. In the ninth, Dayton got a run when Beau Amaral hit a fielder's choice and another run scored. The score was 11-5, that was the final.
Luis Dejesus (2-7) started the game for the Captains and got the win. Dejesus pitched six and one third innings, and allowed seven hits. He yielded four earned runs and walked one. Josh Martin pitched one and two thirds innings and allowed one hit and struck out one. Felix sterling yielded one run on two hits in one inning of relief.
Jackson Stephens (0-1) started for Dayton, and made his first Midwest League Debut. Stephens lasted four innings, and allowed seven hits, five runs and three earned runs. Stephens walked one and struck out five. Stephens was saddled with the loss. Three relief pitchers for Dayton pitched five innings and allowed a combined six runs on seven hits. The Captains have won the first two games of the series by scoring 11 runs in each of the games.
Lake County will remain on the road and in Dayton for the final game of the three game series on Saturday night. The Captains will start RHP Robbie Aviles (1-2,4.61) and the Dragons will counter with RHP Sal Romano (4-7,5.27) who will be making his first start of the season. First pitch is at 7:07 PM from Fifth Third Field.
