Burlington Bees News Release

Tyler DeLoach hurled six innings of one-run ball, while Anthony Bemboom and Andrew Ray each hit home runs to help the Burlington Bees defeat the Clinton Lumberkings 7-3 on Friday night at Community Field.

DeLoach (1-0) made his second start of the season, and continued his success in the Midwest League, allowing one run over six innings for the second straight outing. The southpaw faced the minimum in every inning, except for in the fifth, when he surrendered a run on a RBI groundout by Janelfry Zorrilla.

The Bees (27-40, 1-1) got on the board in the second with two runs against Matt Anderson (3-6). Andrew Ray led off the inning with a single, Anthony Bemboom doubled to put two runners in scoring position, and Kevin Moesquit wacked a one-out single to bring home both Ray and Bemboom.

Ray added to a 2-1 lead in the sixth with his seventh home run of the year. He finished 2-for-4 with two runs and a RBI.

The Lumberkings (34-37, 1-1) did not get much help from their bullpen, as Matthew Vedo surrendered four big insurance runs in the eighth. Pedro Toribio, Kyle Johnson and Wade Hinkle started the inning with back-to-back-to-back singles, with Hinkle driving home Toribio. Johnson scored on an error by Gaby Guerrero and Hinkle came around on a two-run home run by Anthony Bemboom.

Cameron Bedrosian allowed two runs to score in the ninth, but the Bees had plenty of room to work with and earned their first win in the second half.

Ryan Crowley will try and help Burlington get over .500 in the second half when he takes the mound on Saturday night opposite of Scott DeCecco. It will be Donate Life Night at the ballpark, where we will celebrate the lives of organ recipients and honor those who have donated to save lives. It is all in memory of Garrett M. Brockway. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. at Community Field.
