LA shuts out Texas

Beaumont, TX – The Louisiana IceGators ended a 3 game winless streak by shutting out the Texas Wildcatters 1-0 in Beaumont, Saturday night. Chris Thompson scored the game's only goal and Kyle Kettles stopped 32 shots for his first shut out of the season.

After two scoreless periods, Louisiana got on the board early in the 3rd period. Wes Mason, the team's leading scorer, picked up a loose puck and fed Chris Thompson on the near post, Thompson took the puck wide on Davis Parley and scooped the backhander home for his 3rd goal of the season at 2:35, Max Forunus getting the other assist.The IceGators team defense played it's best game of the season, keeping Texas chances to a minimum. Kyle Kettles was tested twice in the 2nd period on two mini break aways, one by Andrew Ianiero the other by Lou Dickenson both were denied by Kettles.

With the win, the IceGators improve their record to 7-3-2, 16 points, and 2nd place in the South Division. For the night, the Gators out shot Texas 42-32. Louisiana was 0-2 on the power play, Texas 0-1. The IceGators have not allowed a power play goal on the road this season and are 22-22 on the PK away from the Cajundome.
