
LA Galaxy Sign Midfielder Sacha Kljestan

LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has signed free agent midfielder Sacha Kljestan. Kljestan, a U.S. Men's National Team veteran, joins the LA Galaxy with 264 appearances, 38 goals and 93 assists Major League Soccer in addition to a standout career with Anderlecht in Netherland's first division.
"Sacha is talented veteran that will add depth and leadership to our midfield position," said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese. "He is a local product that we believe will benefit us both on the field and in our locker room and we are excited to add his experience to our roster. We look forward to him joining our club."
Kljestan has represented Chivas USA (2006-2010), New York Red Bulls (2015-2017) and Orlando City (2018-2019) across 10 seasons playing in Major League Soccer.
Additionally, the Huntington Beach, California product made 180 appearances for Anderlecht while scoring 25 goals and adding 21 assists across Juniper Pro League, UEFA Champions League and Europa League competition. While with Anderlecht, Kljestan helped lead his team to three league titles and four Belgian Cups.
Kljestan was originally selected by Chivas USA with the fifth overall pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft and remained with the club from 2006-10, when he scored 15 goals and added 33 assists in 114 appearances before transferring to Belgian first division side RSC Anderlecht.
The California native represented the United States at the U-20 and U-23 levels before making his senior international debut on June 2, 2007. In all, Kljestan has six goals in 51 senior appearances for the U.S. and also represented the U.S. at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Kljestan was an MLS All-Star in 2016 and was selected to the 2008 All-Star team, but chose to play in the Olympics instead. Kljestan was selected to the MLS Best XI in 2008 and 2016.
