L-Kings Snap Home Losing Streak
July 26, 2005 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Clinton LumberKings News Release
Monday Recap
@ Clinton 6, Lansing 3 Michael Schlact (8-5; 4.32) had been brilliant through his first three July starts (0.90 ERA) before struggling in his most recent appearance against Burlington on the 19th, surrendering six runs on 3.2 innings. But the lanky right hander got back on track at Alliant Energy Field last night, holding Lansing to two runs on eight hits and two walks in 6.2 innings to earn his eighth win of the year.
Of the 20 outs Schlact recorded, two came on whiffs and a whopping 17 via ground ball outs. His grounder-to-fly ratio is now an impressive 2.097 / 1 for the season.
The LumberKings managed just five hits, all singles, yet scored six runs, four of which came in the sixth when they worked two walks, capitalized on an error and got three consecutive singles, including one from Ian Gac who finished 2-4 with a pair of runs driven in.
Emerson Frostad went 0-2, but worked two walks and scored twice.
Marc Lamacchia (3.97 ERA) earned his second save of the year with 1.2 no-hit innings to close out the victory for the 14-16 LumberKings.
