Swing, Devil Rays rained out

Persistent rain in the Quad Cities area has forced the postponement of Tuesday night's scheduled game between the Swing of the Quad Cities and the Southwest Michigan Devil Rays. The game will be made up with a doubleheader beginning at 6:00 on Wednesday night. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

The scheduled American Legion Post 26 activities that were scheduled to take place have been moved to Wednesday, August 24, the game date listed on the American Legion tickets. Students that were planning to participate in the Swing Summer Reading Program parade should know that that event has been moved to Thursday, July 28, the rain date listed on the reading program information.

Wednesday night's game will be a Hooters/97 Rock Beverage night at John O'Donnell Stadium, and drink specials will continue until 8:30 p.m. In addition, the Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest, featuring midway-style games and attractions, will be available free of charge for fans beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Mark McCormick, the Cardinals supplemental first-round pick in last month's draft, will make his second Swing start in the first game of the doubleheader. He will be opposed by Matt Larson (3-2, 3.88). The Devil Rays will send James Houser (4-6, 4.62) to the mound in the second game, against the Swing's Dennis Medina (1-1, 1.00).

UP NEXT: The Swing continue their series with the Southwest Michigan Devil Rays with a Wednesday Night doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00, and pre-game coverage on WKBF AM-1270 will begin at 5:45.

PROMOTION: Wednesday's game will be a Hooters/97 Rock Beverage Night at John O'Donnell Stadium, with drink specials continuing until 8:30. In addition, the Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest will take place outside of the ballpark beginning at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are available for all Swing games by calling (563) 328-2000.
