Kyle Palmieri Tallies Two Assists to Help Team USA Win Bronze at World Junior Championship

Buffalo, NY (January 5, 2011) - Crunch right wing Kyle Palmieri assisted on Team USA's second and fourth goals and registered four shots and a plus-1 rating to help the Americans defeat Sweden by a 4-2 score tonight in the bronze medal game at the World Junior Championship at HSBC Arena.

Palmieri finished the tournament tied for the team lead in scoring with six points (2g, 4a) and a plus-2 rating in six games. Chris Kreider notched two goals, while Nick Bjugstad and Drew Shore picked up the other two tallies and goaltender Jack Campbell stopped 34 of 36 shots for Team USA in the win.

Team USA finished the tournament with a 4-1-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record and earned consecutive medals for the first time in tournament history, having won the gold medal last year in Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This year's bronze medal marked the seventh medal in U.S. National Junior Team history, and fourth in the last eight years.

The Crunch continue their season-high seven-game road trip with a 7:05 p.m. match-up at Binghamton on Friday, January 7 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Syracuse returns home to The Oncenter War Memorial Arena on January 15 for a 7:30 p.m. contest vs. rival Rochester.
