
Wild Signs Ortmeyer; Assigns Ortmeyer to Houston

HOUSTON --- Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed right wing Jed Ortmeyer to a one-year contract and assigned him to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Ortmeyer, 32 (9/3/78), has one assist in one game with Houston this season after signing a pro tryout Jan. 1. He also compiled three points (2-1=3) and 16 penalty minutes (PIM) with the AHL ¬â¢s San Antonio Rampage this season. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Omaha, Neb., has skated in 306 NHL games with the New York Rangers, Nashville and San Jose, accumulating 51 points (21-30=51) and 145 PIM. In 2009-10 with San Jose, Ortmeyer collected a career-high 19 points (8-11=19) in 76 regular season games while notching one assist in four playoff games. He was the Rangers' 2007 nominee to win the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy for dedication to the game. Ortmeyer played collegiately at the University of Michigan.
