
Adirondack Phantoms Announce Retirement of Phlex

Glens Falls, NY- The Adirondack Phantoms, proud affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, today announced that Phlex, its mascot for the past 15 years, is retiring from the organization. Phlex's retirement plan includes traveling the world and seeking out new adventures.
"Phlex will miss the Phantoms a great deal, but it's time for him to move to a new chapter in his life," said Phlex's spokesman and Phantoms Director of Community Development, Andrew Hill. "The Phantoms team and hockey fans in the North Country will always hold a special place in Phlex's heart as he continues his journey."
"I want to thank Phlex for his terrific contributions to the Phantoms organization over the past 15 years and his immeasurable assistance in connecting the Phantoms to the community," said Rob Brooks, Phantoms co-owner. "Phlex has given us a great start in the Adirondacks. We will miss him and his enthusiasm for the Phantoms and the North Country."
Phlex's role within the organization included being the Phantoms biggest fan and spreading goodwill and fun throughout the hockey community. Over the past 15 years, Phlex has entertained over four and a half million fans at over 600 games in Glens Falls, NY and Philadelphia, PA. He has made over 4000 public appearances at local hospitals, youth hockey games, corporate parties, charity events, schools, fairs, parades, birthdays, and community events.
An announcement regarding Phlex' successor will be made in the upcoming weeks. Phlex will assist in the search for a new representative for the Phantoms organization. The Phantoms look to celebrate Phlex and his overwhelming support for the team and the community at the Phlex Retirement Celebration during the January 15, 2011 Phantoms Home Game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Phlex's mascot friends will be attending the event which will also feature a youth backpack giveaway for the first 1000 kids 14 and under presented by Unifirst. All fans will be encouraged to sign a giant farewell card at the game that night that will be presented to Phlex as a sendoff at his retirement party.
