NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Chad Kuhl (3-1) dazzled over six shutout innings and a late home run by Jacob Stallings put the game away as the Curve evened the series with a, 4-0, win on Wednesday night. Kuhl struck out a season-high seven batters in his six innings and did not allow a hit until the fifth inning. It's the fifth shutout of the year for the Curve and their first since May 1.

Kuhl went 11 up, 11 down through New Britain before he walked David Dahl with two down in the fourth. While that was going on, Keon Broxton had driven home Gift Ngoepe in the third to put the Curve in front, 1-0.

Trevor Story's single in the fifth was the first of two back-to-back off of Kuhl and the Rock Cats had two on with no one out. At a big point in the game, the next batter, Will Swanner, was called for an automatic strike by failing to enter the batter's box in the required amount of time. Kuhl then only needed two pitches to strike him out for the inning's first out. He induced a pair of groundouts after to end the inning and the threat.

The Curve starter was removed after six innings and a 19-minute rain delay that occurred in the seventh. It was his fourth quality start of the season.

Yhonathan Barrios, who had been closing for the Curve, came in to pitch a clean seventh inning before Rock Cats' starter Shane Carle (5-3) came back out to pitch the eighth. It burned New Britain as after he hit Stetson Allie to start the inning, Stallings planted his first Double-A home run over the wall in left to run the lead to, 3-0.

Altoona grabbed another run in the ninth off the 'Cats bullpen before Jeff Inman closed the door in the ninth in a non-save spot. Barrios pitched two innings and faced the minimum thanks to a double play while Inman faced one over the minimum in the ninth.

The Curve (26-18) have a chance at a .500 road trip with a win in the trip's final game at 10:35 a.m. Thursday morning. RHP Matt Benedict (0-1, 5.40) will make his second start of the trip for the Curve while RHP Bryan Evans (1-0, 1.50) starts for New Britain.

Airtime on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 10:20 a.m.
