Kubaliak, Thunder Agree to Terms

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced defenseman Martin Kubaliak (KOOB-lee-ack) has agreed to contract terms. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kubaliak, 23, is expected to make his debut in a Thunder uniform tonight at U.S. Airways Center at 6:05 p.m. (1420 KSTN/StocktonThunder.com) against the Phoenix RoadRunners.

Kubaliak previously skated in 51 games this season for the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League, leading the club's defensemen with 28 points (8g-20a) while amassing 78 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound blueliner has scored 59 career points (16g-43a) and posted 338 penalty minutes in three seasons (2006-09) and 159 career games with Bakersfield of the ECHL, Huntsville of the SPHL and Mississippi, Tulsa and Wichita of the Central Hockey League.

The Thunder was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of San Joaquin Magazine, has led the ECHL in attendance for three consecutive seasons and drew 239,337 fans to Stockton Arena in 2007-08.
