Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS-Marc Krauss tripled in the top of the ninth to plate the go-ahead run and ultimately give the Mobile BayBears a 2-1 victory in game two of this five-game series at Trustmark Park.
The loss extended the Braves' (15-17, 40-62) losing skid against the BayBears (24-8, 62-40) to seven games, dating back to July 8 at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Taylor Harbin scored both BayBear runs in the game. He reached on a double before scoring on Krauss' triple in the ninth.
In the second frame, Harbin walked and moved to second on an errant pickoff attempt by Paul Clemens. Jake Elmore then delivered a double down the right field line to plate Harbin and give the BayBears a 1-0 advantage.
The Braves' only run of the night came in the sixth inning when Mycal Jones doubled and scored on an Ernesto Mejia single to center field.
Bryan Woodall (4-3) picked up the win, allowing just one hit and striking out on batter in his only inning of work. Mike DeMark came on in the ninth to record his fifth save of the season.
Ben Swaggerty (1-4) gave up one earned run on three hits and two walk while fanning on in one and 2/3 innings pitched.
Neither starter factored in the decision. Paul Clemens went six and 2/3 innings, giving up just one unearned run on two hits and four walks while recording four strikeouts on the night. Mobile's Bryan Henry started and went five frames. He limited the Braves to just two hits and three walks while fanning four.
Lefty Luis Avilan (2-5, 4.95) toes the rubber in game three of this five-game series at Trustmark Park. He'll take on right-hander Wes Roemer (6-6, 4.36). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Gates open at 6:00 PM.
