June 30, 2006 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH- Catcher Erik Kratz was added to the Fisher Cats roster today from Triple-A Syracuse, just 11 days after he joined the SkyChiefs. No announcement has yet been made about a corresponding roster move. The addition of Kratz gives the Fisher Cats 24 active players, one over the league limit, so one player will have to be moved or deactivated to accommodate Kratz's addition.
The 26-year-old Kratz began the season with the Fisher Cats and hit .236 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 41 games. He also spent all of 2005 with New Hampshire, hitting .205 with 11 homers and 34 RBI. Last season he was named the top defensive catcher in the Eastern League. In his brief stint with Syracuse this year, he played in three games, going 2-for-10 with one RBI. He was originally selected by the Blue Jays in the 29th round of the 2002 draft out of Eastern Mennonite University.
The Fisher Cats begin a four game series with the Binghamton Mets tonight at 7:00 PM at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton, NY. They return home for an eight game homestand beginning on Tuesday, July 4 at 6:35 PM against the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins).
