The Iowa Cubs topped the Omaha Royals 4-1 Monday night in Omaha.
The Cubs scored in the second inning when David Kelton doubled and scored on Micah Hoffpauir's single. The Cubs scored twice in the fifth inning on RBI hits by Richard Lewis and Mike Fontenot. Kelton drove in the final Iowa run with his 11th home run to lead off the sixth inning.
John Koronka allowed just one run in eight innings of work for the win as he improved to 9-10. Jermaine Van Buren worked a scoreless ninth inning for his 25th save of the year.
The Cubs and Royals meet again Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m.
