
Komets Week 2 in Review

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets completed week two of 2013-14 gaining a point in two games played.
Saturday night in Fort Wayne the Komets fell 5-4 in a shootout against the visiting Cincinnati Cyclones. The largest crowd of the night in minor league hockey of 8,484 witnessed Brandon Marino (RW) net a pair while Tristin King (C) and Kaleigh Schrock (RW) added tallies in the game. Komet netminder Cody Reichard stopped 33 of 37 shots in regulation and overtime before making two saves on four shots in the shootout in his first start of the season.
Sunday the Komets were doubled-up in Evansville 4-2. It was the first of six trips to the Ford Center this year and the first of nine meetings overall. Mike Vaskivuo (F) scored the first goal of the game. The Komets have been first to score in each of their first three games of the season. Mickey Lang (C) added a marker for his third goal of the season. Reichard suffered the loss in his second straight start stopping 27 of 30 shots.
The Komets enter week three trailing ECHL North Division leaders Evansville and Cincinnati by four points with an 0-1-2 record and two points.
November hockey -- The Komets open their November calendar of games when they visit Las Vegas this weekend. It's Fort Wayne's busiest month of the year with 14 games scheduled. It's the most games in November since the Komets played 14 games during the month in 2002-03 (8-5-1). After the Komets open with three games at Vegas, they will host seven of the remaining 11 games. Last season the Komets posted a 6-6-0 record for November after registering an 8-4-0 mark for November, 2011.
Next Komet home game Friday, Nov. 8 vs Nailers -- The Komets will be on the road for the next four games. The K's are at Las Vegas for games this Friday, Saturday and Sunday before traveling to Evansville to face the IceMen Wednesday, Nov. 6. The next home game is Friday,Nov. 8 when the Wheeling Nailers visit for an 8pm faceoff.

Komet hockey on WOWO, and Xfinity KometCast -- The legendary Bob Chase is celebrating his 61st consecutive season behind the Komet microphone and will be broadcasting most Komet games. However, for games at Las Vegas this Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the game at Evansville next Wednesday, Nov. 6, Shane Albahrani will be covering the games in Bob's absence. Fans can follow the action radio rinkside on WOWO Radio AM 1190 and FM 92.3. All broadcasts, home and away, will also be heard worldwide at www.komets.com at Xfinity KometCast.
Sound Off with the Komets Monday Nights on 21Alive -- The Komets, 21Alive and title sponsor PHP present Sound Off with the Komets, a live weekly televised sports program each Monday night during the Komet season at 7:30pm on WPTA TV 21Alive. The half-hour show will be televised from Champions Bar and Restaurant in downtown Fort Wayne and will feature highlights, interviews and call-ins as Komet players and personnel serve as co-hosts with 21Alive's Tommy Schoegler. Tonight, Oct. 28, Komet right winger Brandon Marino will be Tommy's guest.
Hey Komet Season Ticket Holders...Meet The Komets Tuesday night -- Komet SeasonTicket Holders are invited to a special "Meet The Komets Night" this Tuesday night at Lutheran Health SportsCenter Ice Rinks from 6pm-8pm. This event, exclusive to all Komet season ticket holders, offers photo ops with your favorite Komet players, autographs and chances to win fantastic prizes. THE WEEK AHEAD
Three games in three nights at Vegas -- The Komets will skate three games in three nights this weekend at Las Vegas. The Komets will meet the Wranglers for the first time when the two teams tangle Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Orleans Arena (7,773). It will be the only meetings of the season. The Komets last played in Las Vegas on Jan. 29, 1999 when the Thunder upended the K's 8-5 in an IHL game. The Komets were 4-7-1 against the old Thunder as Las Vegas fielded an IHL team from 1993-94 to 1998-99.
The Wranglers (2-3-0, 4 points) are two points behind Pacific Division leader Ontario in the Western Conference of the ECHL and are coming off a 3-0 home loss to Alaska Sunday night. Las Vegas is riding a three-game losing streak after dropping all three home games against Alaska this past weekend. The Wranglers will host Florida Tuesday night before welcoming the Komets this weekend.
