Recap of Last Week
The Road Warriors played their first home game of the season last Friday. The Road Warriors' fell 2-1 to in-state rival, South Carolina. The home opener drew a crowd of 5,209; a 34% increase from last year's opening night. The game remained scoreless until early in the third period when Andrew Carroll scored the first goal of the game. Despite Connor Knapp's amazing play throughout the night, the Stingrays scored two goals in the final 30 seconds of the contest to secure the victory.
On Saturday, October 26th, the Road Warriors travelled to Charleston to face the Stingrays for their home opener. Road Warriors rookie Elgin Pearce scored his second goal of the season in the third period to put Greenville on the board but that was the extent of the team's offense. The Road Warriors lost the game 4-1. Carsen Chubak took the loss in net evening his record at 1-1-0. The Road Warriors are ranked fourth in the South Division with a 2-2-0 record heading into this week's games.
Week Ahead
The Road Warriors will face the Reading Royals Wednesday, October 30th at 7:05pm at the Santander Arena. The Royals are ranked first in the Atlantic Division with a 2-2-0 record coming in to Wednesday's game. The Royals have played four games this season, splitting the two game sets with the Elmira Jackals and the South Carolina Stingrays.
On Friday, November 1st, the Road Warriors will take on the Elmira Jackals at First Arena at 7:05pm. The Jackals are ranked third in the Atlantic Division going into the weekend with a 1-2-0 record after losing to Wheeling and Reading.
Saturday, November 2nd, the Road Warriors and the Wheeling Nailers will play at the WesBanco Arena at 7:00pm. Entering the weekend, the Nailers are second in the division with a 1-2-0 record. The Nailers loses came against North Division opponents Cincinnati and Toledo.
Streaks and Stats
Jordie Johnston and Elgin Pearce each have tallied three points in the last four games. Jordie Johnston leads the team in penalty minutes with eight PIM. Andrew Carroll, Josh Nicholls, and Brandon Hynes registered their first points as Road Warriors last Friday. The Road Warriors have scored at least one power play goal in three of the last four games.
Preview of Warrior Appreciation
Join the Road Warriors when they host the Gwinnett Gladiators on Monday, November 11th to help the celebrate Warrior Appreciation Night. Help the team salute members of the Military as well as local Police Officers, Fire Fighters and First Responders. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase and donate tickets through the Road Warriors to give local military and first responders the opportunity to go to the game for free. Military and First Responders can purchase tickets for a special discounted price.
