Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
THIS PAST WEEK:
About Saturday night in Fort Wayne: The Cyclones erased a three-goal deficit and prevailed in a shootout over the Komets by a 5-4 final score in front of 8,484 at Memorial Coliseum. Barry Almeida's goal late in the third period tied the game and his strike in round one of the shootout proved to be the game-winner.
About Thursday Night vs. Toledo: Antoine Corbin scored a timely first goal of the season as the Cyclones mounted an impressive comeback and defeated the Walleye in overtime by a final score of 3-2 in front of 2,432 at U.S. Bank Arena. Successfully killing three opposing power plays and helped by 33 saves from goaltender Rob Madore (W, 33 saves, 1-0-0-0), the Cyclones prevailed to earn their second win in as many games.
SHOTS FROM THE POINT:
Road Sweet Road: The Cyclones will play three of their four North Division opponents this week beginning Wednesday morning in Toledo. Then on Friday, they'll travel to face the Evansville IceMen in the first of six visits this season. After an off-day Saturday, they'll close out their busy week with a Sunday matinee against the Kalamazoo Wings.
Cardiac Clones: On Saturday, Cincinnati erased a three goal deficit to earn the win against the Komets. It was the first time since February 10, 2012 that they've accomplished this feat. Ironically that night was also a 5-4 shootout final - against the Trenton Titans.
No Learning Curve Here: Rookie Wade Megan is tied for third among first year players in points. He has tallied in each of his first three games this season.
"Tony's" Tearing it Up: Anthony Luciani has risen to the top of the Cyclones scoring leaderboard, collecting four points in his three games played. He needs just two more goals to surpass his lamp-lighting totals from the entire 2012-13 season.
