
Komets to Tangle with Walleye in Second Round

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets will face the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL North Division Finals. The Walleye eliminated the Wheeling Nailers in the first round best-of-seven series four games to three Wednesday night with a 2-1 overtime victory at Toledo to advance to the second round of post-season play against Fort Wayne. The Komets dismissed the Wings at Kalamazoo four games to one with a 6-4 win April 25 to advance to the second round.
Toledo earned home ice advantage throughout the playoffs after claiming the ECHL regular season title with 107 points. The Komets earned second seed in the North Division finishing with 102 points.
The Fort Wayne/Toledo best-of-seven series will follow a 2-2-1-1-1 format. The first two games will be held at Huntington Center (7,431) in Toledo. Game 1 is this Friday at 7:35pm and game 2 will faceoff Saturday at 7:35pm.
The series switches to Fort Wayne and the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum for games 3 and 4. Game 3 is Tuesday, May 5 at 7:30pm. Game 4 will be Thursday, May 7 at 7:30pm.
If necessary game 5 will be at Toledo Saturday, May 9. Both teams return to Fort Wayne for game 6, if needed, Sunday, May 10. Game 7 is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13 at Toledo if necessary.

This will be the first time the Komets and Toledo have met in the playoffs as members of the ECHL. As members of the International Hockey League, the Komets met Toledo in the post-season nine times and are 4-5 all time against a Toledo team in the playoffs. When the Komets and Walleye tangle Friday, it will be the first time Fort Wayne and Toledo have faced each other in the playoffs in 31 years. The last time Fort Wayne and Toledo collided in post-season action was when the Goaldiggers claimed the series 4-2 with a 1-0 win at Toledo on April 27, 1984.

All second-round games are scheduled to be broadcast on WOWO Radio AM 1190 and FM 92.3 and webcast at komets.com presented by OmniSource Radio Recycle. All of the road playoff games are scheduled to be televised on MyTV. Fans are invited to watch all road playoff games live at the Komets' official watch zone, The Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery, in Jefferson Pointe on Illinois Road.
