Komets to Skate Three-In-Three Again this Weekend

The Komets completed week 13 of 2010-11 collecting three points in three games played. The CHL will celebrate the All-Star Game this Wednesday at Rapid City and then the Komets will begin the second half of the season with a 10-16-4 record for 24 points and trail the first-place Rapid City Rush by 16 points in the Turner Conference. The Komets, playing at a .722 clip since Dec. 22, have points in eight of the last nine outings (5-1-3).

About last week -- the Komets began last week's slate of three games in three nights with a 3-1 home setback to the Evansville IceMen, snapping a six-game Fort Wayne unbeaten streak and four-game home unbeaten streak. Saturday, Jan. 8 the Komets outlasted the Gems at Dayton 2-1 for their second straight road win and third straight win over Dayton. The Fort Wayne win evened the season series against the Gems at 4-4-1. Sunday the Komets battled the visiting Quad City Mallards to a scoreless tie at the end of regulation and an eventual 1-0 overtime loss and earned a point to salvage a three-point week.

Komets player of the week -- Goaltender Nick Boucher....Boucher allowed two goals in two games for a 1.01 goals-against average and stopped 61 of 63 shots for a .968 save percentage. Boucher is unbeaten in regulation seven straight decisions (4-0-3) and unbeaten in regulation at home seven straight games (5-0-2). In his last eight appearances (4-0-3), Boucher has stopped 201 of 216 shots for a .931 save percentage.

Welcome back -- Fort Wayne veteran center Colin Chaulk, playing in his first three games since returning to the Komets from Italy, scored his first CHL career goal and point in Saturday's 2-1 win at Dayton.

'GRAND DUPUIS' Dupuis sets new Fort Wayne record, sets sights on a grand of Komet games -- Guy Dupuis, playing his 14th season with Fort Wayne, dished an assist on each of the two Komet goals Saturday night in Dayton, his 997th all-time Komet game, and set a new Fort Wayne franchise record for Komet career assists by a defenseman of 403 (regular season), breaking Lionel Repka's 42-year-old record of 402 set in 1969. Dupuis is one assist shy of tying the Fort Wayne all-time career defenseman record of 435 assists (including playoffs) set by Repka in 1969. Dupuis already owns the Fort Wayne defenseman records of 118 regular season goals, 521 regular season points, 13 playoff goals, 131 total regular season and playoff goals and 565 total regular season and playoff points. Dupuis played his 998th Komet all-time game Sunday and is expected to appear in his 1000th Fort Wayne game (regular season and playoffs) this Saturday at Bloomington.

The week ahead -- Friday, Jan. 14, Evansville IceMen (11-19-5) at Fort Wayne Komets (10-16-4), 8:00pm ET The Komets host the IceMen for the second straight Friday night game in Fort Wayne at 8:00. The IceMen stopped the Komets last Friday 3-1 to even the series at 2-2-0. It was Evansville's only win in the last eight games (1-5-2). This Friday's game is the third of seven Evansville visits and the fifth of 11 total meetings this year. Evansville leads the Komets by three points in the Turner Conference, but the Komets have five games in hand. The IceMen were 1-2-0 in three games last week and have

Saturday, Jan. 15, Fort Wayne Komets at Bloomington PrairieThunder, 8:05pm ET The Komets travel to Bloomington for the third of five trips this year. In four meetings, each team has won at home. Bloomington took a 5-3 win out of Fort Wayne Dec. 3 the last meeting. The PrairieThunder are in a Turner Conference battle with Missouri, each trailing Rapid City by one point for first-place. Bloomington visits Dayton Friday before hosting the Komets Saturday.

Sunday, Jan. 16, Mississippi RiverKings (16-17-1) at Fort Wayne Komets, 5pm ET The RiverKings visit Fort Wayne for the second and last time Sunday at 5pm. It's the last meeting of the season between the two teams as the Komets are not slated for a visit to Mississippi this year. In the first meeting of the year the Komets blitzed the visiting RiverKings 7-5 Dec. 29. Mississippi skates at Missouri Friday and travels to Evansville Saturday before their appearance in Fort Wayne Sunday.

CHL All-STAR GAME AT RAPID CITY WEDNESDAY -- The CHL will celebrate their All-Star Game at Rapid City Wednesday. Representing the Komets at the gala affair will be defenseman Frankie DeAngelis. DeAngelis leads the Komets with 17 assists and 24 points at the 30-game mark of the season. DeAngelis is skating his second season with the Komets after making his pro debut last year. The Woodbridge, Ontario native led Fort Wayne defensemen last year with 32 assists and topped IHL defensemen with a plus-31. DeAngelis was named to the 2009-10 IHL All-Rookie Team. After the All-Star Game the CHL teams will have a travel day Thursday before action resumes in the league on Friday with all 18 teams returning to the ice.

Friday night Marathon Nights.....Friday nights are Marathon Nights at Komet home games. Fans can take advantage of a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer with three fill-ups when the Komets host the Evansville IceMen this Friday at 8pm. Fill Up Cards are available at participating Marathon stations.
