Oakley CHL Player of the Week Announced

TEMPE, AZ (January 10, 2011) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Arizona forward Luke Erickson has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Player of the Week for the period ending January 9, 2011.

Erickson has been an offensive presence for the Sundogs since being acquired from Rapid City in a trade on November 10 scoring 19 goals with 35 points in 23 games played. Last week, the Roseau, Minnesota native scored goals in every game accounting for seven points (5-2=7) in the Sundogs two wins in three games over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. Erickson started the week with two third period goals and an assists in a 5-3 loss on Wednesday. He then had a goal and an assist and was a +2 in the ‚¬ËœDogs 5-3 win on Friday and finished off the weekend with two goals and a +2 plus/minus rating in a 6-3 win against RGV. The 5-8, 170-pound forward has points in nine straight games (tied for the longest active point streak in the CHL) and has collected points in 19 of the 23 games he has played in an Arizona uniform including 12 multiple-point games and seven multiple-goal games.

Overall, Erickson is 13th in the league in scoring with 39 points (21-18=39) and his 21 goals are second only to David Rutherford ‚¬â„¢s (Bossier-Shreveport) 22 scores. Erickson had four points (2-2=4) in six games with the Rush before being dealt to the Sundogs.
