Dayton Gems: Weekly Review
January 10, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Dayton Gems News Release
The Dayton Gems had a rough weekend, dropping both of their games this past weekend.
The weekend started out with a tough loss to Bloomington. After both teams allowed two goals in the first period, each goaltender settled down and played great defense as neither team was able to record a goal in the second or third period.
However, Bloomington's Jon Booras was able to find the back of the net in overtime to give the PrairieThunder a 3-2 win.
Defense was the story of the game on Saturday night. Gems' goaltender Jeff Jakaitis recorded 31 saves against 33 shots on goal for the evening. The 33 shots on goal are the fewest the Gems have allowed against the Komets since December 26.
Dayton did what it could on offense as well. The Gems took a season high 41 shots on goal.
Despite putting forth a great performance overall, the Gems were only able to score once as they were defeated 2-1 by the Komets.

Tipton is the first fan to win a laptop this season.
