
Komets sweep pair on road to stay on top

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets won 3 out of 4 games last week including the last 2 on the road and continue to top the Western Conference of the UHL for the 20th consecutive week. The Komets improved to 38-17-2 for 78 points after 57 games and enter week 21 holding the Western lead by a one-point margin over second-place Rockford.
In review of last week the Komets turned back the visiting Quad City Mallards Wednesday 3-1 scoring all 3 goals in a span of 47 seconds for a new Komets record of fastest 3 goals in a UHL game.
Friday the Komets suffered their first shutout of the season 2-0 to the visiting Port Huron Flags. It was Port Huron's first win in 3 games at Fort Wayne this season.
Saturday the Komets rebounded with a 4-3 shootout victory at Flint to take a 3-1-0 series lead over the Generals.
Sunday the Komets upended the league-leading Fury at Muskegon 4-1 to remain unbeaten at Muskegon in 2 games this season. The Komets hold a 3-1-0 series lead with 3 meetings remaining.
This week the Komets will skate a double-header at Quad City beginning with an 8pm faceoff at the Mark of the Quad Cities Wednesday. Friday the Komets again face the Mallards at Quad City at 8pm to finish the Quad City portion of the Komet's road schedule for the year. The Komets lead the series 5-2-0 and are 3-1-0 at Quad City going into this week's play.
Saturday the Komets return home to host Port Huron at 7:30pm. It's the 5th of 6 meetings and the 4th and final visit this season by the Flags. The Komets lead the series 3-1-0 and are 2-1-0 vs Port Huron on Fort Wayne ice. The Flags are in a race for 3rd place in the East with Flint and Elmira. Port Huron defeated the Fury at Muskegon Saturday night in their last time out to extend their winning streak to 3-games and are 5-1-0 in their last 6. The Flags skate at Rockford Friday night before traveling to Fort Wayne Saturday.

Leading Komets....center J.C. Ruid continues to lead the Komets with 35 goals, 7 game winning goals, and is 2nd overall in the UHL with 73 points. Ruid also leads the Komets with +16.....Guy Dupuis (D) leads with 47 assists, 2nd overall in the UHL, and leads all UHL scorers with 30 power play assists.....Kevin St. Pierre leads UHL goalies with 33 wins, a 2.21 goals-against average, a .926 save percentage and in minutes with 2902:38....Mario Larocque leads UHL defensemen with 19 goals and 13 power play goals.
Komets road streaks: Bruce Richardson (C) has a 6-game road point scoring streak (4g, 8a) and J.C. Ruid (C) is riding a 5-game road point scoring streak (3g, 5a).
