Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs goaltender Frederic Cloutier and winger Jason Ralph were recognized on Monday by the United Hockey League for their solid performance during Week 20. Cloutier was named the UHL Southern Sports Supplies Goalie of the Week for the fifth time this season and Ralph was named the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week for the first time this season after helping the Hogs to four straight wins in Week 20.
Frederic Cloutier, a St. Honore, Quebec native, was between the pipes for three of the IceHogs four wins last week. Cloutier went 3-0-0 with a goals against average of 1.33 and a save percentage of .946. The perfect week capped a near perfect month of February for Cloutier as he went 11-0-1.
Rockford opened the week in Kalamazoo and Cloutier out-dueled Wings red-hot goalie Ryan Nie, making 28 saves in Rockford's 5-2 win. The IceHogs headed east for a three-game set in Elmira and Cloutier started the first two games in the weekend series.
On Friday night, Cloutier earned his second shutout of the season, blanking the Jackals 3-0 while turning away 29 shots. Then on Saturday, Cloutier only faced 15 Elmira shots on goal in rout to an IceHogs 4-2 win over the Jackals.
Heading into Week 21, Cloutier is the third ranked goalie in the UHL. The sixth-year goalie also won the UHL Goalie of the Week award during weeks 6, 12, 14 and 18. He is the only puck-stopper in Hogs history to win the award more than twice in a season.
Jason Ralph, who has missed much of the season due to injury, has nine multi-point games in the 21 games in which he has played this season. In those 21 games, the IceHogs have a record of 19-0-2.
