Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets finished week 9 of the 2004-05 UHL campaign on top of the Western Conference with 38 points and an 18-7-2 record. The Komets earned 7 points in 4 games, moved a point ahead of 2nd place Rockford, and extending their unbeaten-in-regulation streak to 9 games.
Tuesday in Kansas City the Komets rounded up the Outlaws 6-1. Tyler Masters stopped 26 shots for the win while the Komets directed a season high 50 shots toward the K.C. net. Tom Nelson recorded his first 2-goal performance of the season including a short-handed goal. Jonathan Goodwin, Danny Stewart, Rob Guinn and Jeff Worlton also scored for the Komets. It was Worlton's first career goal since becoming pro in 2001.
Friday the Komets began a 3-game weekend with a 3-0 shutout over the visiting Motor City Mechanics. Goaltender Masters welcomed the Mechanics to their first ever visit to Fort Wayne by stopping all 13 shots directed on the Komet net. It was Master's 2nd shutout in as many weeks and 2nd of the season. Colin Chaulk, Stewart and Goodwin each hit the twine for the Komets.
Saturday the Komets traveled to Missouri and dropped a 4-3 shootout, snapping a 4-game road win streak. Defenseman Jason Kean netted a pair and winger Sean Venedam scored a power play tally as netminder Masters made 24 saves.
Sunday the Komets returned to Fort Wayne and extended their home win streak to 7 games by turning back the Elmira Jackals 5-3. Venedam registered his first Komet hat trick including a shorthanded tally when the Komets were killing a 5-on-3 Elmira power play. The Komets lead the UHL in shorthanded goals with 8 (6 on the road). P.C. Drouin and Goodwin each contributed goals for the Komet's 18th win of the season. Goalie Masters, in his 4th consecutive start, earned his 6th win of the season stopping 32 of 35 shots and is unbeaten in regulation 5 straight games.
This week the Komets skate 3 games in 4 nights starting at Missouri Wednesday at 8:05pm (Fort Wayne time). Friday the Komets play the first of a home doubleheader when they face the Richmond RiverDogs for the first time this season at 8pm. Saturday the Komets host the Western Conference rival Rockford IceHogs at 7:30pm.

Milestones.....defenseman Tom Nemeth skated his 100th career UHL game Tuesday, Dec. 7 at Kansas City.....defenseman Rob Guinn appeared in his 300th career game Friday, Dec. 10 at Motor City.....("Career" stats represent all stats registered during regular season games).
Hot Komet streaks.....the Komets are unbeaten in regulation 9 straight games and are unbeaten at home 7 straight.....Komet center Colin Chaulk has scored points in 8 straight home games (16 pts) and has passed assists in the last 7 straight home games (11a, league high home streak).....Sean Venedam has points in 6 straight home games (12 pts) and is riding a 3-game point streak (4-1=5)......skater Jonathan Goodwin has scored goals (4g) in 3 straight home games......defenseman Tom Nemeth has assists in 3 straight games (5a).
