RiverDogs off to 1-0-1 start on seven-game road trip

The Richmond RiverDogs are now 12-10-2 after going 1-1-1 last week. The ‘Dogs are third in the Eastern Division, one point ahead of Elmira, with at least two games in hand on the rest of the division. The ‘Dogs play four games in five nights on the road this week.

Wednesday, December 15 @ Kalamazoo 7:00 PM GAME NOTES: The second of four meetings and the first of two at Wings Stadium. ‘Dogs are 1-0 vs. the Wings. Richmond was 0-3 at Kalamazoo last year. Francis Belanger has two goals vs. the Wings. Yannick Carpentier has two points vs. the ‘Dogs.

Friday, December 17 @ Ft. Wayne 8:00 PM

GAME NOTES: The first of three meetings, two in Ft. Wayne. The ‘Dogs first of five games vs. Western Division opponents. The ‘Dogs were 2-2 vs. Ft. Wayne last season, 1-1 at Ft. Wayne. Both ‘Dogs wins came in shootouts. Three of the four meetings were decided by one goal.

Saturday, December 18 @ Kalamazoo 7:30 PM GAME NOTES: The third of four meetings and the ‘Dogs second and final visit to Wings Stadium this season. Second of three games in three nights in three cities for the ‘Dogs.

Saturday, December 19 @ Port Huron 5:05 PM GAME NOTES: The third of four meetings and the ‘Dogs only visit to Port Huron. Richmond is 1-0-1 vs. the Beacons. Francis Belanger and David Brosseau have five points vs. the Beacons. Josh Tataryn has three goals vs. the ‘Dogs. Port Huron is 5-15 on the power play vs. the ‘Dogs.

Wednesday, December 8 vs. Danbury LOSS 5-2 GAME NOTES: The Trashers blew the game open with three third period goals. Jeff Daw scored twice for Danbury. The Trashers were 3-5 on the power play. David Hymovitz and J.J. Wrobel scored for Richmond. Danbury out-shot Richmond 34-28 after the ‘Dogs held the Trashers to just four first period shots.

Friday, December 10 @ Adirondack WIN 5-2

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held off a Frostbite rally. Ryan Prentice scored twice for Richmond. Mark Turner had a goal and two assists. Brian Goudie chipped in with two assists and Jeff Sanger picked up an assist, the first point by a ‘Dogs goalie this season.

Saturday, December 11 @ Adirondack LOSS 6-5 (SO) GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs rallied from three goals down with under nine minutes to play to force the shootout. Mark Turner scored the game-tying goal with :23 to play. Tuner added two assists. J.J. Wrobel had three assists. Derek Gustafson stopped all five ‘Dogs in the shootout.

DOG BITES: The 'Dogs are 1-0-1 on a seven game road trip. Richmond plays three games in three nights in three cities on the road this weekend. J.J. Wrobel and Jonathan Gagnon have points in five straight games. Kyle Sheen's six game point scoring streak ended Wednesday vs. Danbury. Mark Turner has six points in his last two games. The 'Dogs next four games are outside the division. Richmond is 3-0-1 vs. the Central Division. The 'Dogs play their first game vs. a Western Division opponent Friday at Ft. Wayne. Richmond still has games in hand on the rest of the Eastern Division. The 'Dogs were seven for seven on the penalty kill in two games at Adirondack. The 'Dogs have been held to under 30 shots in seven straight games. Richmond has been out-shot in 11 of their last 12 games. The 'Dogs are 4 for their last 13 on the power play.
