Friday, December 10-Quad City 3 at Rockford 5

A pair of Mike Kompon markers were not enough to derail the IceHogs as Rockford downed the Mallards 5-3. Bruce Watson and J.C. Ruid staked Rockford to a 2-0 lead with a pair of first period goals. The teams traded second period goals as Mike Kompon scored for the Mallards and Miguel Lafleche answered for Rockford. After Olivier Proulx extended the Rockford lead to 4-1 early in the third, the Mallards staged a spirited comeback to pull within one goal. Sergei Durdin and Joe Dusbabek each scored on the power-play to set the score at 4-3 Rockford. The Mallards would push for the equalizer throughout the final five minutes before Rockford's Ryan Bonni scored into an empty net with 59 seconds left.

Saturday, December 11-Quad City 0 at Port Huron 1-Shootout

The Mallards outshot the Beacons (28-19) while carrying play through much of the game. The hot play of Port Huron netminder Stu Dunn held the game scoreless through regulation. At the end of the third, Quad City's Jeff Reynaert made two huge saves to carry the Mallards to the shootout. In the shootout, the teams traded goals in the first round (Frantisk Skladany for the Mallards and Josh Tataryn for Port Huron) before the game was decided by Port Huron's Gabriel Proulx with a goal in the final round of the shootout.
