Komets post record best start after 20

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets continue to lead the UHL Western Division after the eighth week of the 2006-07 campaign with a 14-6-0 record for 28 points and a .700 point percentage. It's the best start for the Komets since joining the UHL in 1999. The 14-6-0 record tops the Komets previous best after 20 games of 13-6-1 (27 points, .675) in 1999-00 and 11-4-5 (27 points, .675) in 2001-02.

The Komets split a pair of games at Elmira for the week starting with a 3-2 setback Friday night. Scoring for the K's were David Hukalo (RW) and Dan Goneau (LW) while goaltender Kevin St. Pierre made 20 saves on 23 Jackal shots.

Saturday the Komets turned back Elmira 5-3. Komet center J.C. Ruid notched his second hat trick of the season with 3 goals and added 2 assists for a 5-point night. Mario Larocque (D) and Matt Syrocynski each added markers for the Komets. Bogdan Rudenko (RW) dished 3 assists in the game. St. Pierre earned his 13th win of the season in his 9th straight start.

This week the Komets have 3 games on tap. Wednesday the Komets travel to Chicago to visit former coach Greg Puhalski and his Hounds at 8:30pm Fort Wayne time. Friday the Komets host Kalamazoo for the first time this season at 8pm. Saturday the Komets and Wings tangle at Kalamazoo at 7:30pm.

Wednesday's Komet game at Chicago is schedule to air on WKJG Radio AM 1380. Friday and Saturday's games will air on WOWO Radio AM 1190 with Bob Chase calling the play-by-play. All Komet games broadcast can also be heard worldwide at www.komets.com at Comcast KometCast.

Komet leaders.....J.C. Ruid (C) 16 goals, 4 game winning goals, 29 points.....Guy Dupuis (D) 20 assists, 14 power play assists.....Bogdan Rudenko +9.....Mario Larocque 7 power play goals, 133 penalty minutes. Larocque leads UHL defensemen with 10 goals and 7 power play goals.

Special K's.....the Komets lead the UHL with a league-best 21.0% rating on the power play (34/162). The Komets also have the best home penalty kill in the league allowing only 5 power play goals in 80 times shorthanded.
