
UHL names players of the week

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Fort Wayne Komets center J.C. Ruid has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Muskegon Fury goaltender Clayton Pool has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, December 10th, 2006.
Ruid completed the week with six points (3g, 3a) and a plus-1 rating in two games played. He dished out an assist in Friday's 3-2 loss to Elmira. Ruid then had a point on all five Fort Wayne goals when he registered a "hat trick" (3g) and dished out two assists in Saturday's 5-3 win vs. Elmira. The five-point night equaled a league season high. The 31-year-old native of Ballston Spa, New York currently leads the Komets in scoring with 29 points (16g, 13a) which also ranks sixth overall in the UHL.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington defenseman Ryan Gillis, Elmira right wing Frank Littlejohn, Flint center Tony Tuzzolino, Kalamazoo center Kory Karlander, Muskegon right wing Rustyn Dolyny, Port Huron left wing Colt King, Quad City forward Justin Chwedoruk, and Rockford defenseman Nathan Lutz.
Pool finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 0.50 goals against average (GAA), a .982 save percentage (SPCT), and one shutout. He stopped all 34 shots in Friday's 5-0 win vs. Flint. It was his second shutout of the season. On Sunday, he stopped 23 shots in the 2-1 win vs. Chicago. The 28-year-old native of Abbotsford, British Columbia earns the weekly award for the second time this season. He has a 15-2-0 record this season and has yet to lose a game on the road (9-0-0). He leads all UHL goaltenders in wins (15), GAA (1.83), and SPCT (.938).
Other goaltenders nominated for the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Jeff Reynaert, Chicago's Marty Magers, Elmira's Kris Tebbs, Flint's Bryan Worosz, Fort Wayne's Kevin St. Pierre, Kalamazoo's Ryan Nie, Port Huron's Dustin Traylen, Quad City's Jason Tapp, and Rockford's Frederic Cloutier.
