Rockford nabs two of three during week nine

In his last nine games, goalie Frederic Cloutier has a save percentage of .940, goals against average of 1.78 and record of 6-3-0.

Defenseman Nathan Lutz has six assists in his last six games.

Lutz also tied former IceHogs d-man Evgeny Krivomaz for third all-time on the Hogs games played list for defensemen with 140 games. Lutz sits 19 contests behind Steve Pelletier for the most games played by a blue-liner.

On Friday the IceHogs blew a third period lead for the first time this season, losing in Port Huron 4-1. Rockford has an all-time record of 167-12-16 when leading after two periods, a winning percentage of .897.

Rockford will play seven of its next 11 games at home.

Over the past five games, defenseman Mike Letizia is the only Hogs skater to have a plus/minus rating on the positive side. Letizia has a plus/minus of +4 and has a pair of assists during the stretch.

Center Mike Doyle netted both of the IceHogs game-winning goals over the week. Doyle has a goal in three of his last four games.

Rookie winger Kaleb Betts is tied for second in the UHL in goals for rookies with 11.

Rockford held Chicago to an opponent season-low three shots in the second period on Saturday in Rockford's 3-1 win.

The IceHogs have struggled against the Eastern Conference on the road so far this season, compiling a record of 1-4-0.

Hot Hog Week 9:

Defenseman Nathan Lutz has picked things up on the offensive side as well as on the defense. Lutz had a pair of helpers for Rockford during Week 9 and the team captain was instrumental on the penalty kill for the IceHogs. Lutz has six points in his last six games overall.

Wednesday, Dec. 13 vs Bloomington PrairieThunder: Game time is 7:30 p.m. For the second straight Wednesday the IceHogs and PrairieThunder match-up, this time in Rockford. Wednesday means another Dollar Days with the IceHogs and rock station 104.9 FM, WXRX. Fans can purchase regular size hot dogs, soft drinks, peanuts and select candy items for just $1.

Friday, Dec. 15 vs. Quad"ˆCity Mallards. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m. The Hogs homestand continues as the archrival Mallards return to the MetroCentre. The first 1,000 fans to the game will pick up IceHogs Poster #3 from Medicine Man, Pepsi, Johnson Press and the Rockford Register Star.

Saturday, Dec. 16 vs. Bloomington PrairieThunder. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. Another match-up with the Thunder at the MetroCentre. The IceHogs and Isight Communications welcome Dora the Explorer to the MetroCentre on Saturday. Fans are encouraged to bring their cameras and the kids for a photo opportunity with one of TV's top animated stars!

Week 9 Recap

After a five-game road swing, the Rockford IceHogs returned home on Saturday night and knocked off the Chicago Hounds 3-1 at the Rockford MetroCentre. The IceHogs four-game homestand kicked off in fashion as the Hogs fans once again showed their generosity tossing 1,569 stuffed animals onto the ice during the Hogs Annual Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday.
