Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets claimed 4 points in games played last week and have clinched a spot in the UHL playoffs for the 6th time in 7 seasons and are looking to lock the 6th seed spot. Any combination of 3 points, either won by the Komets or lost by Quad City, gives the Komets a lock on 2nd place in the Western Division and 6th seed when the playoffs open the week of April 17.

The 6th seed will play the 3rd seed and right now Rockford appears a likely opponent when the 2006 UHL playoffs begin. The Komets will play their 3 remaining regular season games this week starting at Missouri Wednesday in a make-up of the game originally scheduled for Feb. 19. This weekend the Komets will host both teams vying for the UHL regular season championship. Kalamazoo and Muskegon are tied with 107 points after 73 games going into this final week of regular season play. The Fury visit Fort Wayne Friday at 8pm and the Wings will guest for the Komet's regular season finale Saturday night at 7:30. The Komets won their final home game of the season last year 2-1 over Adirondack to improve to 4-1-1 in Komet home UHL regular season finales.

Komets finish road slate at Missouri Wednesday.....the Komets will make up the post-poned Feb. 19 game at Missouri this Wednesday night at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri. It will be the final Komet road game of the regular season and the last of 10 meetings with the River Otters. The Komets are 8-1-0 in the season series after taking the last meeting 3-2 in a shootout in Fort Wayne March 26. The Otters are riding a 2-game win streak after upending league-worst Roanoke in both games of a double-header at Roanoke last Friday and Saturday.

Muskegon here Friday.....the Komets will finish the season against the 2 top teams in the UHL starting with Muskegon Friday night at the coliseum at 8:00. The Fury will host Adirondack Tuesday (originally scheduled for Jan. 14) before traveling to Fort Wayne Friday. The Komets are winless against Muskegon in 5 previous meetings this season after winning all 6 meetings last year. Muskegon's Robin Bouchard leads the UHL with 59 goals, 34 power play tallies and 116 points. Muskegon owns the league's best overall power play (24.0%) and has the top road penalty kill (84.8%). The Fury are coming off an 8-0 drubbing at Rockford Sunday afternoon and are 4-3-0 in their last 7 games, 2-3-0 in their last 5.

Wings visit for Komet's home finale Saturday.....the Kalamazoo Wings are in search of their first UHL Tarry Cup Championship and are tied with Muskegon with 50 wins and 107 points after 73 games going into this week's play, but if tied with Muskegon at the end of the season with wins and points, will win the tiebreaker of head-to-head wins. The Komets are 3-3-0 vs. Kalamazoo in 6 previous meetings this season. The Wings are coming off a weekend of winning 3 games in 3 nights are riding a 5 game win streak. This week Kalamazoo faces Adirondack at home Wednesday (originally scheduled for Jan. 13) and travels to Missouri Friday before visiting Fort Wayne Saturday.

Komet playoff tickets go on sale Tuesday.....Komet playoff tickets go on sale Tuesday, April 11 at 10am at the Coliseum Ticket Office and at ticketmaster.com. UHL playoffs get underway the week of April 17 and the Komet's playoff opponent and schedule is yet to be determined. The first round of the UHL playoffs is a best-of-7 series with the higher seeded team capturing home ice advantage.

Guy dishes 200.....Guy Dupuis (D) passed his 200th Fort Wayne career assist Friday 4/7 at Port Huron (includes IHL games with the Komets).

Puhalski hits 600.....Komet's head coach Greg Puhalski coached his 600th UHL career game Saturday night April 8 at Flint. Puhalski and Danbury coach Paul Gillis are neck-and-neck in UHL games coached as each had 528 UHL career games coached when the 2005-06 season started.

Komet Ironmen.....Jonathan Goodwin (RW), Troy Neumeier (D) and Rob Guinn (D) have appeared in all 73 Komet games this season.

Shootin' em up.....the Komets set a new Fort Wayne team record of shots in a UHL game with 59 Friday night in their 6-3 win at Port Huron. Last week the Komets outshot their opponents overall in 4 games played 176-97.

Komets End-of-Season Player Awards.....the annual Komet player awards will be presented following this Saturday night's home game against the Kalamazoo Wings. Eight awards will be handed out including the NOB Brick Award for the stonewall defensive forward, the Unsung Hero Award, the Komet Defenseman of the Year Award, the Komet Rookie of the Year Award, the Most Improved Player Award, the True Komet Award, the Mr. Hustle Award and the team's Most Valuable Player Award (voted by the players).
