Jason Tapp Named UHL Goaltender of the Week

Moline, IL-The United Hockey League announced today that Jason Tapp has been named the UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period of April 3rd through April 9th. Tapp went 4-0-0 during the week while leading the Mallards into seventh in the UHL playoff race. The award marks the third time this year that Tapp has earned UHL Goaltender of the Week honors.

On Wednesday, Tapp stopped 39 shots in a 4-3 shootout win over Fort Wayne. Friday night, the Kelowna, British Columbia native made 32 saves in regulation and added four shootout saves to beat Rockford 2-1 at The Metrocentre. Tapp earned his fifth shutout of the year on Saturday at The MARK in a 1-0 win over Motor City. The netminder stopped all 31 shots he faced to earn the win. Tapp closed the week with another shootout win over Fort Wayne. The 3-2 shootout victory featured 31 regulation saves and four shootout saves by Tapp.

For the week, Tapp recorded a 1.50 goals against average with a .957 save percentage. The quartet of wins earned by Tapp vaulted the Mallards past Richmond and Motor City into seventh in the UHL.
