
Richmond's DiPace and Quad City's Tapp earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Richmond RiverDogs forward John DiPace has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Quad City Mallards goaltender Jason Tapp has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 9th, 2006.
DiPace completed the week with nine points (5g, 4a) and a plus-9 rating in five games played. On Tuesday, he tallied one goal and one assist in the 5-2 win vs. Adirondack. The next night, he added a shorthanded goal in the 5-0 win vs. Missouri. He dished out an assist in Friday's 3-1 loss to Adirondack. On his 24th birthday, he had a three-point night (2g, 1a) in Saturday's 6-4 loss to Danbury. He netted his two goals in a span of 23 seconds in the third period. DiPace had two points (1g, 1a) in Sunday's 4-2 victory over Elmira. The Clinton Township, Michigan native is currently riding an eight-game point streak. He has set career highs this season in goals (31), assists (34), and points (65).

Tapp finished the week with a 4-0-0 record, a 1.50 goals against average (GAA), a .957 save percentage (SPCT), and one shutout. He made 39 saves in regulation and stopped six of seven shooters in the extra session in Wednesday's 4-3 shootout win vs. Fort Wayne. On Friday, he made 32 saves in regulation and stopped four of five attempts in the shootout during the 2-1 shootout win vs. Rockford. Tapp stopped all 31 shots in the 1-0 victory vs. Motor City on Saturday to earn his fifth shutout of the season. He then earned his 10th consecutive victory when stopped 31 shots in regulation and all four attempts in the extra frame during Sunday's 3-2 shootout victory vs. Fort Wayne. The Kelowna, British Columbia native just celebrated his 28th birthday on Monday and currently has a 33-20-7 record this season. He ranks second among UHL goaltenders in minutes played (3581:52), third in saves (1672), and fifth in SPCT (.916).
