Fort Wayne Komets News Release
Fort Wayne, IN - The Komets announced Monday that they have acquired forward Jordan Sims from the Greenville Swamp Rabbits as compensation for a trade earlier this season for forward Thomas Ebbing.
Sims, 29, was born in Fort Wayne on Dec. 28, 1989 while his father Al Sims was serving his first season as Fort Wayne's head coach after a 10-year NHL career as a defenseman.
Jordan Sims is skating his fifth pro year after making his ECHL debut in 2014-15 appearing in stints with Idaho and Evansville. Sims scored a career high of 17 goals and added highs of 29 assists and 46 points in 64 games with Evansville during 2015-16. He also made his AHL debut that season with San Jose appearing in two games.
The forward appeared in 59 games with Cincinnati during 2016-17 and ranked second with 15 goals, 29 assists and 44 points before skating in the French elite league last season helping Lyon win the French Cup Championship.
Sims started this season logging three games with Cincinnati and 12 games with Greenville before being acquired by Fort Wayne. Over four seasons in the ECHL, Sims has amassed 37 goals, 70 assists, 107 points in 162 games.
In additional player movement, the Komets announced today that they have dealt goaltender Kyle Hayton to the Allen Americans to complete a trade made earlier for forward J.C. Campagna. Hayton, in his rookie debut, appeared in one game with the Komets making 27 saves on 30 shots in a 4-2 loss at Rapid City on Nov. 9.
The Komets will skate three games in four nights this week beginning Wednesday at Cincinnati at 7:35pm. Friday the Komets are home to host the Toledo Walleye at 8pm. Saturday the Komets cap the week with a return trip to Cincinnati and another 7:35pm start.
