Quote of the Week

Royals G Nick Niedert on playing his first ECHL game in 1032 days and making an ECHL-best 38 saves for a 2-1 win Saturday.

"I've been skating a little bit here and there. The way the guys played tonight, especially killing all those penalties, they took a lot of stress off myself. It was 100 percent character. It was one of the best wins I've ever been a part of."

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have won two of the last three games and start another three-game week Wednesday in Maine. The Royals host Kalamazoo Fri., Nov. 30 with a PA Lottery Voucher Giveaway to fans 18 and older.

3) Quarter pole comparison

The Royals are at 20 points (7-5-2-4), one point off their pace from last season under Kirk MacDonald. Last season's squad was 10-7-1-0 through 18.

The difference between this season's team and last season's club has been home and road efficiency. The Royals are 5-0-0-3 away from Santander Arena, whereas last season's squad was 3-6-1-0 at this point last campaign. In 2017-18, Reading started 7-0-0-0 at home.

2) Royals player of the week: Nick Niedert

Making his first ECHL start in 1032 days, coincidentally also for Reading, Niedert blocked 38 shots Saturday to help the Royals steal two points in a 2-1 win at Adirondack. Niedert won a game for the Royals in the 2015-16 season and is 2-0-0-1 in his Royals career.

The runner up goes to Steven Swavely, who rides a career-long six-game point streak into Wednesday's showdown at Maine.

1) Quick Preview: Maine, Kalamazoo and Adirondack

The Royals play Maine Wednesday for the fourth time and Reading is 2-1-0-0 vs. the Mariners. Maine is coming off a 6-4 win vs. Manchester Saturday in which rookie Ty Ronning registered a hat trick and five points in his first ECHL game.

Kalamazoo and the Royals battle Friday for the first time since Mar. 25, 2016. The Royals are 13-12-2 all-time vs. the Wings. Reading last defeated Kalamazoo on Mar. 15, 2015. The Wings are last in the league with nine points.
