Komet Goaltender Muse Called up to Charlotte; Rochester Assigns Winger Szydlowski to Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced Wednesday that goaltender John Muse has been loaned to the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL and right wing Shawn Szydlowski has been assigned to Fort Wayne by the AHL's Rochester Americans.

Muse, 25, made his Fort Wayne debut last Saturday night during the Komets' home opener stopping 18 of 21 shots in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Toledo Walleye. Muse, appearing in his third pro year, has backstopped Charlotte during stints with the Checkers the past two seasons. Last year the East Falmouth, Massachusetts native posted an 18-10-3 record and 2.50 goals-against average in 32 AHL games with Charlotte while sharing the season with the ECHL's Florida Everblades appearing in 21 games.

Szydlowski, 23, may see his first action this season with the Komets. The winger made his pro debut skating four games with Portland in the AHL during 2010-11 after completing four seasons of OHL play with Erie. Szydlowski played the majority of his rookie season with Rochester (53gp, 8a, 21pim) in 2011-12 and appeared in a six-game stint with Gwinnett in his only ECHL action to date. Last season the St. Clair Shores, Michigan native scored 10 goals and 26 points in 45 CHL games with Fort Worth. Szydlowski also skated seven games with Rochester. Szydlowski has accumulated totals of eight assists and 25 penalty minutes in 62 career AHL games.

Cyclones visit Saturday-- the Komets will skate two games against division rivals this weekend. Saturday the Cincinnati Cyclones visit for a 7:30pm faceoff. Sunday the Komets will travel to Evansville for the first road trip of the season. Faceoff Sunday at the Ford Center in Evansville is at 6pm Fort Wayne time.

1 and 33 Night-- The Komets will retire the number of two legendary goaltenders this Saturday night when they host the Cyclones at 7:30. Chuck Adamson's number 1 and Nick Boucher's number 33 will be raised and displayed alongside 13 banners of previously honored Komet personnel prior to the opening faceoff at 7:30pm. Adamson won two IHL Turner Cup Championships as Komet netminder in 1963 and 1965. Boucher backstopped the Komets to four league championships in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012.

Sound Off with the Komets airs Monday Nights on 21Alive-- The Komets, 21Alive and title sponsor PHP present Sound Off with the Komets, a live weekly televised sports program each Monday night during the Komet season at 7:30pm on WPTA TV 21Alive. The half-hour show is televised from Champions Bar and Restaurant in downtown Fort Wayne and features highlights, interviews and call-ins as Komet players and personnel serve as co-hosts with 21Alive's Tommy Schoegler. Monday night, Oct. 28, Komet right winger Brandon Marino will be Tommy's guest.

Meet The Komets Tuesday, Oct. 29-- Komet SeasonTicket Holders are invited to a special "Meet The Komets Night" Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Lutheran Health SportsCenter Ice Rinks from 6pm-8pm.
