Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, N.Y. - October 23, 2013 - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they will hold a block party this Friday, October 25 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Grey Street in downtown Elmira to celebrate their home opener that same night.
"We've been looking forward to our home opener all summer. There has been a lot of work to the off-ice and on-ice products involving First Arena and the Jackals, and a block party is the perfect way to celebrate the culmination of that work with our fans," said Jackals owner and president Nate Cook.
The Jackals open the home portion of their 2013-14 schedule on Friday, October 25 at 7:05 p.m. against the Reading Royals. As of Wednesday afternoon a highly limited number of tickets remain available for the game so fans are encouraged to purchase in advance. Tickets can be bought in person at the First Arena Box Office, over the phone by calling 607-734-7825, or online through Tickets.com. Groups of 10 or more that purchase tickets in advance also qualify for discounted tickets and preferred seating based on availability. Call the Jackals at 607-734-7825 to book your group.
Giveaway items on tap for the Jackals home opener are 1,500 cowbells courtesy of Elmira Business Institute and 2,000 reflective hand-held lights from Party Time.
The block party is completely free and open to the general public. Events and attractions will be set up on Grey Street starting at the First Arena Box Office and extend to the intersection of Main and Grey Streets. There will also be attractions located on the concourse inside First Arena. In the event of inclement weather, select attractions will be moved indoors and the block party will take place inside First Arena.
The Jackals have arranged for plenty of great entertainment including; three inflatable attractions from Bobby K Entertainment, a visit from Texas Roadhouse's Andy the Armadillo, live remote broadcasts by 95 The Met and Magic FM, the spinning tunnel from the Haunted Empire at Bradley Farms, face painting courtesy of Chemung County Youth Bureau, and interactive games from Party Central. There will also be food and beverage available for purchase.
