Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have announced a transaction, which takes effect immediately. Montreal has reassigned goaltender Peter Delmas to the Nailers.

Delmas, 23, is entering his fourth season of professional season, after spending his first three years making himself a household name in Wheeling, thanks to his stellar performances in the crease. Peter has appeared in 92 games with the Nailers, posting a 48-32-9 record, a 2.45 goals against average, a .914 save percentage, and a team record nine shutouts. His wins and games played totals rank second in team history, and his goals against average is also second best among goaltenders with at least 20 appearances.

The Bedford, NS native has also played in at least two games at the American Hockey League level over the last three seasons - all with the Hamilton Bulldogs. Delmas has two AHL wins under his belt, defeating the Toronto Marlies on both occasions, including a 32-save effort on October 29th, 2010, in his second career start.

Prior to turning pro, Peter spent parts of five seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, as a member of the Lewiston MAINEiacs, Quebec Remparts, and Halifax Mooseheads. His best two seasons were his first in Lewiston, when he combined to go 40-23-4. As a 16-year old rookie in 2006-07, Delmas teamed with Jonathan Bernier, leading the MAINEiacs to their lone President Cup.

In a separate transaction, the Nailers released goaltender Alex Westlund.

Delmas and the Nailers will be in action on Saturday night, when they visit the Toledo Walleye at 7:15. Wheeling's next home games are November 1st and 2nd, when they welcome the Reading Royals and Greenville Road Warriors to WesBanco Arena for a pair of 7:00 starts.
