Frederick Keys News Release

The fans at Harry Grove Stadium on Saturday evening got their money's worth. The season-high crowd of 7,619 watched starting pitchers Bobby Bundy and Brett Brach allowed one run on four hits over a combined 15 innings and then in the bottom of the ninth DH Tyler Kolodny hit a walk-off two-run home run to right field to win the game for Frederick. The win ended the Keys three-game losing streak and upped their record to 23-18 on the season.

RHP Bobby Bundy was impressive in his eighth start of the season. After surrendering a solo home run to 2B Casey Frawley in the top of the first, Bundy was flawless atop the hill. He retired 15 consecutive K-Tribers after the Frawley homer and finished up his night with eight strikeouts over a season-high eight innings pitched. Bundy's ERA sits at 2.42 on the season after Saturday's start.

Despite the stellar performance by Bundy, he never pitched with the lead because Kinston's starter, RHP Brett Brach, was dealing. Brach was perfect on the night entering the bottom of the fourth before he walked LF LJ Hoes with one out in the inning. Brach, who surrendered eight runs in his last start, only allowed one hit over seven shutout innings.

The Keys finally put together a string of hits in the bottom of the eighth against RHP Tyler Sturdevant. With one out, C Brian Ward doubled to right field. Michael Rooney entered the game as a pinch runner. Sturdevant, who entered the game with a 0.83 ERA, struck out SS Garabez Rosa for the second out of the inning. 2B Bobby Stevens came to plate with Rooney still at second base. After fouling off a handful of pitches, Stevens blooped a Sturdevant into left field. Running on contact, Rooney easily scored from second to tie the game at one.

After RHP Sean Gleason tossed a scoreless top of the ninth, LJ Hoes led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a double to right field off of Sturdevant. The next man to the plate was 1B Tyler Townsend. Townsend hit a ball into right-center but RF Bo Greenwell made a diving catch for the first out of the inning. With one down and Hoes on second, DH Tyler Kolodny entered the batter's box. Kolodny, homerless since Opening Day, drove a Sturdevant offering over the left field fence for a walk-off two-run homer. Kolodny's second long ball of the year gave the Keys a 3-1 victory over the Kinston Indians.

Sean Gleason improved to 1-0 on the year while Tyler Sturdevant fell to 2-2.

Frederick and Kinston will play the rubbermatch of their three-game series on Sunday afternoon at Harry Grove Stadium. LHP Nick Haughian (1-2, 5.87) will start for the Keys while LHP T.J. House (2-4, 4.59) gets the nod for the K-Tribe.

First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday Family Funday at Harry Grove Stadium. Fans can play catch on the outfield grass from 1-1:30 p.m. and also get autographs from their favorite Keys players.
