Kinston Indians News Release
Tribe Talk...
Four Squared! - The K-Tribe is enjoying their second four game win streak in a little over two weeks. The four game streaks are the team's longest of the season, in between the two stretches, Kinston went 1-7 with a five game losing streak tossed in.
One Run Fun! - During Kinston's current four game win streak, the K-Tribe has won each game by just one run. The last time Kinston won four straight one run games was 6/7 - 6/10 in 2008 (10-9 (10 innings vs. MB, 5-4 vs. MB, 3-2 and 3-2 at Salem).
Let's Go Streaking! - Kinston outfielder Tyler Holt is riding a 20 game consecutive on-base streak, the second longest in the Carolina League this year. The streak started on April 27th. Within the on-base streak Holt has a five game and a ten game hit streak. He is hitting .328 over the stretch. Only Salem's Reynaldo Rodriguez with 21 has a longer streak in the CL. Holt is third in the league in obp (.401) and walks (25).
Home Cookin' - Some K-Tribers might be disappointed to be leaving Grainger Stadium for the next six games. Bo Greenwell has been hitting .308 with 3 doubles, 2 HR and 10 RBI's over 23 home games. Tyler Holt has played in 23 home games and is batting .338 with 5 doubles. Holts home OBP is .469. Kinston has hit 11 of their 12 home runs at home and has posted an 11-14 record.
Road Warriors - Coming into this road trip Kinston is hitting just .228 on the road, scoring 36 runs in 14 games. Justin Toole is hitting .310 on the road to lead Kinston; Roberto Perez has the second best road batting average on the road with .286. Kinston's team ERA however is a very good 2.48, compared to 4.33 at home. Kinston is 6-8 on the road this season. The Tribe has played 11 more games at home than on the road up to this point. Kinston will have already play nearly half (32 of 70) of their home games by June 3rd. Kinston will have just three home weekends in June and July combined.
Preston Impresses - The back end of the bullpen has been excellent as closer Preston Guilmet got his sixth save in as many opportunities on Tuesday. In thirteen appearances (14 2/3 ip) Guilmet has given up just eight hits, no runs and has not walked a batter yet this season. He has struck out 15 on the season.
