Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks defenseman Pat Cougevan will join NEWS 10 NBC sports anchor Mark Gruba on Friday, February 23rd. At 6:20 p.m., Cougevan will talk about the Knighthawks' Teddy Bear Auction to benefit CURE Childhood Cancer Association.

This Saturday, the Knighthawks finish their franchise-record four-game homestand with an 8:05 p.m. contest against the Arizona Sting. That night, the team will hold a silent auction in the upper atrium lobby of The Blue Cross Arena. The animals, which were created by the players at the Eastview Mall Build-A-Bear Workshop, are available to bid on from 7:05 p.m. to the end of halftime. At the conclusion of the game, fans can return to the auction tables to participate in a matching bid process. Fans can match another bid by placing an "M" in the matching column on the bid sheet that accompanies their favorite player's animal. The minimum bid is $50.

Some of the featured animals are Pat O'Toole Harley Davidson Bear, John Grant's basketball frog, Mike Accursi's hockey dog and Steve Toll's lacrosse dog. There are 24 animals, including a full-team autographed bear that was donated by Build-A-Bear Workshop. All proceeds will go directly to CURE.

The mission of CURE Childhood Cancer Association is to improve the lives of families coping with childhood cancer or chronic blood disorders by providing emotional, educational and financial assistance.

Cougevan's appearance marks the second time this season that a Knighthawks player will appear on NEWS 10 NBC. On November 20th, forward John Grant co-hosted sports with Gruba as part of a "trading places" segment.

The game this weekend will be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. The contest will also be broadcast in progress on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK. The first 1,000 fans will also take home a Shawn Williams trading card courtesy of Nathaniel's Pub.
