
NLL Announces Week Eight Player Awards

The National Lacrosse League has announced the Week Number Eight player awards for the 2007 season. Buffalo Bandits goaltender Steve Dietrich was named both the Overall Player of the Week and the Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in a 12-8 road victory over the Philadelphia Wings in the Hall of Fame Game. Arizona Sting forward Dan Dawson earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, Colorado's Nenad Gajic was named Transition Player of the Week and Philadelphia Wings forward Kyle Wailes was named Rookie of the Week.
Buffalo Bandits goaltender Steve Dietrich earned both Overall Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors. Dietrich had a strong performance in a victory over the Philadelphia Wings in the 2007 NLL Hall of Fame Game on Saturday night at Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. Dietrich racked up 49 saves and held the Wings to eight goals in the 12-8 road victory.
Arizona Sting forward Dan Dawson earned Offensive Player of the Week Honors for his performance in Arizona's 12-11 overtime home win over the Edmonton Rush on Sunday at Jobing.com Arena. Dawson scored three goals, including the over-time game winning goal, and tallied four assists for seven points as the Sting recorded their fourth straight victory. Dawson also collected three loose balls in the game and scored one of his goals on the power play.
Nenad Gajic of the Colorado Mammoth earned Transition Player of the Week honors in Week Eight. Gajic scored three goals, including a short-handed tally and collected eight loose balls in a 10-8 road win over Portland on Thursday. Gajic also tallied two assists and collected five loose balls in a 15-12 home win over the Calgary Roughnecks on Sunday at Pepsi Center in Denver
Philadelphia Wings forward Kyle Wailes was named Rookie of the Week for Week Eight. Wailes scored five points on three goals and two assists and collected 13 loose balls in a 12-8 home loss to Buffalo in the 2007 NLL Hall of Fame Game on Saturday. Wailes scored all three of his goals on the power play.
